We’re bigger

than

Boston

Exceptional academics are paired with a vibrant, multicultural community, creating an atmosphere where students are inspired to think globally and act locally. ISB’s commitment to fostering each student’s ability to explore, reason, and communicate through a global lens extends beyond the classroom.

Our multilingual, global environment immerses students in a globally relevant curriculum at every age, unlocking the many benefits of our unique approach. Multilingual learning is scientifically proven to strengthen a student’s focus, cognitive function, and accelerate decision-making skills. Students in multilingual environments are also more adept at understanding diverse perspectives—a priceless skill in our interconnected world. When our students reach the Upper School, they have the agency to immerse themselves in Boston’s top International Baccalaureate program, or the French Baccalaureate.

Learning is supplemented by our rich extracurricular activities, travel opportunities, arts, and athletics. This ensures that every student excels as a globally competent, globally minded, and globally aware individual ready to make their mark on the world.

Bring the

world in

ISB’s curriculum inspires students at every stage of their educational journey. From hands-on learning in early childhood to advanced academic challenges in Upper School, our programs cultivate curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.

Maternelle

Age 2-Kindergarten

Beginning with children as young as age 2, children in ISB’s Maternelle discover the joy of learning in a warm, bilingual French-English environment. Through daily exploration, they build the social, emotional, and motor skills that prepare them for success in Lower School and beyond.

Our unique curriculum fosters curiosity, independence, and a love of school that lasts a lifetime.

Lower School

Grades 1-5

In Lower School, children grow into confident, curious learners while thinking, speaking, by engaging in a holistic curriculum across all subject areas and learning in two languages.

Early years immerse them in French and English, building strong literacy skills and the ability to collaborate with others. By Grade 3, equal time in both languages deepens cultural connections and expands their global perspective. Beginning in Grade 2, students can also begin Spanish or Mandarin—deepening their multilingual experience.

Middle School

In Middle School, students have the choice to select an academic schedule that more heavily emphasizes the French or English language, depending on their future goals and plans.

At the same time, they also have the option to add Spanish, German, or Mandarin, preparing them for future academic tracks like the International or French Baccalaureate. As students start to imagine their future selves, they will also develop creative problem-solving skills and independent thinking.

Upper School

In the Upper School, students position themselves to earn an American High School Diploma and one of two of our internationally-recognized diplomas: the International Baccalaureate (taught in English) or the French Baccalaureate.

Regardless of their choice, students—whether they’ve been with us since Preschool or are joining us for the first time in Grade 9—develop a deep sense of community and work closely with our college counselors to design their futures.

From our

community

“I chose the IB Diploma Program because of the well-rounded, multilingual, and multicultural education it provides. I was given a chance to flourish in an environment where I could learn new languages and delve into topics and subjects that truly interested me. The IB gave me the ability to not only learn about fascinating subjects, but also enriched me with a deeper understanding of the 'how' and 'why' of the world and the greater universe.”

Ayanna '23

Cornell University

“I chose the IB because it was the best suited program to prepare me for college in terms of: 1. teaching me to stay organized, 2. learning how to learn and how to think analytically, 3. encouraging effective group collaboration. The ISB IB program especially helped me in perfecting my essay and scientific study writing skills. My teachers would always do their best to make themselves available to help. In summary, I highly recommend the IB program at ISB for the small class sizes, excellent teachers, and rigorous yet exciting course content!”

Ian ’23, McGill University

“I chose to take HL Psychology and Biology because I am interested in studying psychology or neuroscience in the future, and these classes will provide a great base for that. I chose to take French A to continue growing my language skills, and I chose art to push myself and my development as an artist!”
